DTS passthrough via HDMI possible with D54250WYK?

Hello all,

I can't get DTS audio passthrough via HDMI to work on my NUC.

I have audio and the receiver (Onkyo) is showing that the signal is "Multi Channel".

So I do have surround working but I want the NUC to just passthrough the audiostream to my receiver.

The NUC is connected via the displayport to 1 of the HDMI inputs of the Onkyo receiver

Thank in advance for any help.

memory issue on D54250WYKH

My NUC's Configuration:

NUC: d54250wyk

memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-8GRSL

hard drive: Western Digital Scorpio Black WD7500BPKT 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

No msata SSD/wifi.

I struggled more than 2 weeks to install Win7. Could you help me to figure out if it is a defect NUC?

Here is the step of testing memory by memtest86:

1. At the beginning, I got errors with 2 memory modules on both slots.

2. Then I tested each individual module on the bottom slot. Pass without errors.

3. Since, both module are good. I tested them together on both slot. Pass without errors.

4. After there memory tests, I used a bootable USB created by UltraISO to install Win7. But it is interrupted during the step of copying files to hard drive(error code: 0x80070570).

5. Then I reboot the NUC and check memory again. This time, errors were found by memtest86.

6. In the following Win 7 installations, I got the following error every time

File: \Windows\system32\boot\winload.exe

Status: 0xc0000001

Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt

I can reproduce this issue consistently. And the BIOS is updated to the latest one.

Is this a NUC's problem or memory modules? Should I return the NUC?

Thanks.

No HD audio with XBMC on D54250WYKH

Hi,

I have an Intel NUC D54250WYKH and I am running Windows 8.1 and XBMC on it. I have a problem with the HD audio formats not working. I have checked this webpage to verify my audio settings:

Windows audio - Kodi

In chapter 3, step 5, there is a screenshot showig the "Encoded Formats". When I check the same on my NUC, I only have these three: DTS Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Digital. I am missing Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD.

When going into System -> Device Manager I see that my Audio driver for HDMI has the following spec:

  • Supplier: Intel
  • Date: 2014-07-08
  • Version: 6.16.0.3150

Please advice how I can get HD audio to work?

Best regards, Moorstream

Hello

I have a problem connecting to the wireless keyboard and mouse to the USB3 connections

Does the problem is because of the need to connect to USB2?

If so how to connect with a cable is recommended to do this?

Many thanks in advance.

Nuc 2820 display flickering - YouTube

We just got the NUC, have tried about 10 monitors and 5 calbes

Eventually got an OS installed on 1 monitor which was barely working, it looked a bit like the matrix

We use it for windows server and remote desktop onto it, so its not often needed

But I cannot help but think this is a hardware issue?

is this a known problem with a fix?

Hello,

I am using a few d34010wyk boards for a work project. I have 2 that were functioning as they should but now won't even let me into bios. They're running windows 7 x86 using 2 sticks crucial ddr3 1.35V ram Crucial m500 120Gb msata drive. When I apply power, the power Led comes on solid, but it doesn't seem to do anything. No hdd blink, fan off, etc. When I push the power button, the fan starts to spin, then immediately stops and the power light goes off, and the standby power led is the only thing that is on. I tried unplugging the fan for a moment to see if there was a short of some kind, but the behavior is the same. I've powered the board by the included power supply and from the internal header with 12.5V. Any idea what else I can check on these boards?

Thanks.

NUC DC3217BY sound distorted

Hi all,

I have got an NUC DC3217BY When I use Linux, the sound is distorted, with Windows 7 there is no problem. The NUC is attached to an HP LP2475w with an HDMI cable, a DAC is attached to the coaxial digital sound output of the HP display, finally to the DAC a set of 2.0 speakers (Altec Lansing VS2720) is attached. With Windows 7 it always sounds perfect, but with Linux (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS & 14.04 LTS, Chakra Fritz & Descartes) the sound usually distorted. If someone knows how can I solve this problem, let me know please. Thank you.

Hi all,

I am having problems getting the internal serial ports to work and the internal speaker to make some sound.

I use Centos 5.

I am familiar with these headers as I used the DN2800MT board previously.

Anybody else having problems with serial ports or internal speakers?

Hello.

Now I know what youre all thinking.... XP... whats that?

This liitle NUC lablled in some spots as a TYKE and internally as a TYBE is doing my head in.

It works perfectly well on Windows7

But, I have a need to install XP, even though it does not support XP in its supported drivers.

All goes well, even with the Windows XP hologram install disk in a USB caddy.

It sees the SATA hard drive and formats and then copies files to it.

It is installing onto a a 64GB SSD, but the same result happens on a Platter drive.

The SATA mode tried in both AHCI and IDE mode... same result after a bios upgrade.

At the point of normal reboot and startup to continue the rest of the install, it fails with the following BSOD.

STOP: 0x0000007E (0x..........., 0x............., 0x..............., 0x..............)

acpi.sys - address F73B8D66 base at F73AD000, DateStamp 41107d27

XP drivers not available I can accept the following...

I am not expecting the screen to work beyond VGA

I dont need sound

I can get around the Ethernet issue.

USB3 to only work at usb2 speed or not at all is OK.

But why cant I install XP.

I even tried F5 and chose a standard HAL

Anyone out there trying to achieve this?

I am trying to replace an old PC with ISA slot, Yes even older than XP.

I have found a ISA Bus slot to USB adapter, so the PC side can be very low spec, just XP 32bit.

I thought this NUC would be perfect, but its not looking like this.

NUC DN2820FYKH doesn't boot (only in EFI shell)

Hi,

my problem is same as was in I5 NUC won't boot (other than into EFI Shell). When I played with settings of my NUC I set in BIOS checkbox "Internal EFI shell". Now NUC boots only into EFI shell and problem is that keyboard is not functional (norLEDon the keyboarddo not flash) so I can not access BIOS nor EFI shell. I tried BIOS recovery from version 0038 to 0038 and also from 0038 to 0037, but without success, still only EFI shell and NUC doesn't reacts on keyboard.

Any suggestion how to reset BIOS setting into default values?

Cannot enter BIOS

Hello,

I have a D54250WYK connected to Samsung monitor (running at 1920 x 1200 resolution).  I am connected to the monitor using a cable with an HDMI connector at one end and a DVI connector at the other (the latter, of course, connected to the monitor).  I am using a female-female HDMI adaptor to connect this to a cable with a standard HDMI on one end and a mini-HDMI on the other end (connected, of course, to the NUC).

I have a Logitech K400r wireless keyboard with the USB dongle plugged into the NUC on its front side.

The NUC is connected to the network using an ethernet cable, although I have installed a wireless adapter which I could also use to connect to my LAN.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit as an OS.

My problem is that I cannot enter the BIOS setup using the F2 key.  Often the first screen seen on boot is the Windows startup screen.  Occasionally I see, for only about a second, the NUC screen which shows the legend "F2 to enter BIOS, F7 to update BIOS, F10 for boot menu".  Even when I do see this, repeated pressing of the F2 key does not prevent Windows from starting.  I have tried holding down the F2 key continuously also, this does not work either.

I have tried holding down the NUC power button for five seconds and then releasing it.  Usually this results in nothing at all happening (the NUC remains off), but once I did get a different screen which remained on the monitor, with the legend above about F2, F7 and F10, and also the note that ESC to boot normally.  Pressing F2 when this screen was displayed did nothing.  Pressing F7 and F10 also did nothing.  Pressing ESC caused the system to boot into Windows as usual.

I don't have a wired USB keyboard, but it would seem to me that if the system recognized the ESC key in the last-mentioned case, the keyboard was activated, and it should have recognized the F2 key.

Help needed!

Thanks

Intel NUC wont't Boot DN2820FYKH

Hi,

Bought the DN2820FYKH recently in a "bundle" with 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L CL9 SODIMM 1.35V HyperX Impact Black Series memory I think is the problem as nothing comes up on screen at all but the unit powers up and light comes on (no blinking warning light though). I know it is not on the compatible list but the memory which is that I can buy from the same website (because I have to return the other memory) does not show as DDR3L - CT51264BF160BJ crucial. Will it really make much of a difference or should the memory I already have work? Maybe it is a different problem. I have tried it with 2 different HDMI cables and on a TV not monnitor.

Quite annoying as it is going to be our media PC.

I Want to get back Visual Bios

i updated BIOS of Desktop Board DB85FL. to the last version i lost it after i had to format my pc, the main reason of doing that was because i wanted to handle my pc fans and temperature from bios, now i can see the options below the intel sign,  F2 to access setup just show me a black screen and the other option is F7 that one is update bios, i discovered that the version that comes with the fan controller is called Visual Bios, so i got the last Visual Bios i run the installation and is showing me the error: downgrade version is not allowed, and i cant continue, when i purchased my PC it came with Visual Bios so i know  it works in my PC, i tried updating trough flash drive and other solutions that are mentioned but none of them work and are not specific to the problem that im having. I would really apreciate if you can show me a solution for this problem. Thanks

DN2820FYKH won´t detect SSD nor HDD: sata port 0 [not installed]

I´ve just bought this unit. Installed a Kingston SSDNow 300 and 4Gb of Crucial DDR3L, and started by simply trying to install Windows 7 from external DVD. As installation didn´t detect any disk, I started troubleshooting and discovered, that I´m not the first having trouble installing Windows 7 on this unit...

...so I went on with updating BIOS to 039, made the required settings in BIOS, changed from SSD to HDD, tested both disks in another computer, wiped the disks. I even made a bootable USB and tried to install from that instead of the DVD. Nothing worked!

I might have found an explanation:

I can see, that under legacy mode, the BIOS states that SATA port 0 is [not installed].

When I connect a disk (HDD or SSD) via external SATA to USB case, the disk is recognised correctly - but connected internally, the disk is absent. I´ve already tried to disconnect and reconnect both cables to the disk frame. Only thing i havent tried, is to connect disk to the Black SATA port with another cable and external power (as I haven´t got a desktop PC at this location).

Do I really have a hardware failure on this brand new unit - or is there something I´ve missed?

Bug: Display problems after resume from standby or screen off

D54250WYK

BIOS Version/Date Intel Corp. WYLPT10H.86A.0028.2014.0814.1906, 8/14/2014

Windows 8.1 Pro x64, all updates from Windows Update

Primary display: Dell P2714T (DisplayPort) Dell 27 Touch Monitor - P2714T

Secondary display: HP w2558hc (HDMI) Product Specifications | HP® Support

Latest drivers/BIOS as of 9/2/14

Problem:

Symptom A: The monitor on the HDMI connection will not display anything immediately.  It's about a 3s delay after the DP monitor is already up.  I hear the Windows Device Arrival notification sound when the Secondary display finally shows my desktop, and the screen on the Primary display momentarily flashes.

Symptom B: The windows that were open on the Primary display are moved over to the Secondary display.

Scenarios where this issue has been seen:

1) After resume from S3

2) When displays wake up after being turned off (default in the Balanced power plan is for displays to turn off after 10m of the PC being idle)

These problems do not repro 100% of the time.

I searched back through about 10 pages of posts here and didn't see anything that sounded similar.  Is it just me?

D34010WYK miniDP-VGA screen flickering

$

When I connect any device through minidisplayport-to-VGA adapter that screen flickers when content is refreshing - if there is static picture (i.e. desktop) everything is fine.

I thought OK, chinese noname adapter causes this, so I went and bought genuine Apple miniDP-to-VGA adapter and problem is here.

What I have tried to determine/solve this problem:

- I have now 3 adapters - chinese noname, Apple and Blitz (marked as supported for NUC here on Intel web) one

- I have 7 different VGA cables (shielded/unshielded, different lenghts, gold plated contacts,..)

- I have two same NUCs (same model, same amount of RAM, same SSD, same BIOS config) - both units are using latest BIOS and drivers

- I have 3 different monitors and one projector

I tried all possible combinations with both NUC devices and everytime screen was flickering BUT I when I use one of these adapters to connect my rMBP (Early 2013) to monitor/projector everything runs as expected - no flickering.

I found here on Intel forums that some NUCs had problems with screen flickering on HDMI output - this was solved by new BIOS.

From what I tried, I found that has to be NUC issue, maybe HW, maybe SW. What the heck, so I took one NUC and went to store, send it to service and they gave new one (however no issue was found) - same problem, screen flickers!

So this has to be BIOS issue, right?

Has anyone same issues?

Please Intel, investigate and fix this. It`s pretty annoying.
