Intel NUC D54250WKY Random startups since updating to BIOS 0.28

I have run openELEC on my intel NUC i5 for the last year with the IR commands in the autostart.sh and Bios 0.25 without any issues at all. Foolishly I upgraded the Bios to 0.28 and I had to remove the IR commands from the autostart.sh for the Microsoft MCE remote to work. I have tried downgrading to 0.25 bios again but as other users on the XBMC & openELEC forums have said it seems to be a perminent IR fix but causes the NUC to randomly startup for no apparent reason.

I come in from work and the NUC has started up with no user input. Once every few days its happening.

I never had this issue with Bios 0.25 but a lot of users have had this issue with 0.27 and 0.28. I can try and downgrade to 0.25 but will this cure my problem or create even more.

Its becoming tiresome having to check my NUC everyday after work.

NUC (D54250WYKH) doesn't boot Ubuntu Linux 14.04.1

Hi guys! I've tried to install Ubuntu several times on my NUC but every time the NUC seems to refuse to start the bootloader. In fact the BIOS shows the internal drive (mssd installed on msata port) but when i select it, i get this message: "A bootable device has not been detected." I'm using the 0027 BIOS because if I press F2 (to enter the BIOS) on 0028 the NUC freezes, maybe the fault is the miniDP to VGA adapter?

How can I solve these problems?

Thank you!

D54250WYKH Wakes Up from Hibernation Randomly

First of all, sorry for my simple English.

I have a D54250WYKH with BIOS 28 and running Windows 8.1

My problem is, NUC wakes up from hibernation randomly. Sometimes in 20 minutes, sometimes in 50 minutes. But usually in 15 to 20 minutes.

My only wake up trigger is Intel AC 7260 Wifi adapter. powercfg.exe confirms that. No RTC alarm setup in BIOS also.

I've tried everything (both BIOS and Windows settings) what I read from several forums but nothing has worked.

Even disconnected all USB things from the NUC but didn't work. Just power cable connected NUC woke up in 15 minutes.

And I tried that turn off the router completely but the NUC woke up again.

Is this a common problem or just me?

Hello,

I have problems accessing in my D54250WYKH a setting "Processor cores" in BIOS 0028 under "Performance" tab.

If I click on the Cores link nothing happens on the right side where settings should "Processor cores" appear.

I see only this screen:

This one I cannot see, even when I press on Cores link.

Is this disabled in version 0028?

Thanks for the a answer.

Intel NUC D4250WYKH ISSUES

@Intel, could you please check if this is reproducible also on your system? My setup is the following: Intel NUC-->miniDP-VGA-adapter-->VGA monitor

The adapter is an Apple MB572Z (Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.)

Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 710v (max resolution: 1280x1024)

On BIOS ver. 0028 whenever I press F2 the monitor screen turns black and I cannot access the BIOS, CTRL+ALT+CANC doesn't work, I must press down the power button to shut off the system.

This doesn't happen at all in 0027.

However in 0027 when I change the "Visual BIOS Settings" e.g. change the theme of the BIOS interface or enable/disable the Page Transitions it seems that the BIOS doesn't retain the changes between reboots.

I really need the NUC working.

Intel, could you please verify and fix those issues?

Thank you very much!

Sorry for my bad english.

DN2820FYKH: can't boot

I get nothing but a blank screen when I power on my DN2820FYKH.  Memory is 2G ADATA AD73I1B0887EV.  (I've also tried a Hynix HMT325S6CFR8C that worked fine before I moved it from my laptop to the NUC).

Display is a Dell 1980x1280 monitor, HDMI cable plugged into the monitor and into the NUC.  If I plug the NUC side of the cable into my laptop, the monitor works fine.

When I press the power button, the button light turns white and I can hear the hard drive spinning, so it was power.  Nothing happens on the screen though.

I've tried holding down F2 or F10 during power-up.  Nothing happens.

Any suggestions?

I Want to get back Visual Bios

i updated BIOS of Desktop Board DB85FL. to the last version i lost it after i had to format my pc, the main reason of doing that was because i wanted to handle my pc fans and temperature from bios, now i can see the options below the intel sign,  F2 to access setup just show me a black screen and the other option is F7 that one is update bios, i discovered that the version that comes with the fan controller is called Visual Bios, so i got the last Visual Bios i run the installation and is showing me the error: downgrade version is not allowed, and i cant continue, when i purchased my PC it came with Visual Bios so i know  it works in my PC, i tried updating trough flash drive and other solutions that are mentioned but none of them work and are not specific to the problem that im having. I would really apreciate if you can show me a solution for this problem. Thanks

DN2820FYKH won´t detect SSD nor HDD: sata port 0 [not installed]

I´ve just bought this unit. Installed a Kingston SSDNow 300 and 4Gb of Crucial DDR3L, and started by simply trying to install Windows 7 from external DVD. As installation didn´t detect any disk, I started troubleshooting and discovered, that I´m not the first having trouble installing Windows 7 on this unit...

...so I went on with updating BIOS to 039, made the required settings in BIOS, changed from SSD to HDD, tested both disks in another computer, wiped the disks. I even made a bootable USB and tried to install from that instead of the DVD. Nothing worked!

I might have found an explanation:

I can see, that under legacy mode, the BIOS states that SATA port 0 is [not installed].

When I connect a disk (HDD or SSD) via external SATA to USB case, the disk is recognised correctly - but connected internally, the disk is absent. I´ve already tried to disconnect and reconnect both cables to the disk frame. Only thing i havent tried, is to connect disk to the Black SATA port with another cable and external power (as I haven´t got a desktop PC at this location).

Do I really have a hardware failure on this brand new unit - or is there something I´ve missed?

NUC 340101wyk unable to use the USB 2.0 controller. Need to set USB to eHCI

I have a USB 2.0 eHCI device that is not compatible with a USB 3.0 xHCI controller.  I have connected to the USB 2.0 connector on the board, but the device manager still shows that connector on the USB 3.0 controller.  In the BIOS reference it talks about the ability to change the USB mode from xHCI to eHCI, however the setting does not exist in the latest BIOS than I am running.  What can be done to use the USB 2.0 eHCI controller on this computer?

Thanks...

Cannot enter BIOS on my new NUC

Much like the spotted owl, I know for certain that my BIOS exists, yet I have never seen it. I cannot, FOR THE LIFE OF ME, get into the BIOS on this machine. I was able to install Ubuntu, but then I messed up the grub, so I want to enter the BIOS to reformat it and reinstall. No dice. Cant F2 in. Cant boot without the ssd in place. Can't boot to another usb to install windows onto the ssd. Cannot enter the BIOS. Have spent an entire day just trying to get into the hihly top-secret, super special BIOS on this brand new machine. Some people talk about what monitor is connected. Well, for the record, it's hooked straight up to a Seiki uhdtv via HDMI. -but seriously, why should that matter? It a monitor, people.

Not even sure what to try next.

Intel NUC drivers will not download

I have not been able to download any drivers for the Intel D54250WYK NUC.  I get to the final step of accepting the rights to download the file and it gives a message that the download has started and goes back a page.  No downloads start.   Popup blocker disabled.  Tried IE/FF/Chrome.  Tried multiple PCs, friend has tried from his work place as well as my own.  No luck!  Can someone please look into this?

Thanks.

How to keep USB hard drive off?

$

Hi everybody,

I got myself a NUC DN2820FYKH as media player last week-end. Installation of internal SSD and memory was a breeze, as was BIOS update to the latest version from the web site. OpenELEC installation gave me some trouble but now seems to work nicely.

As media storage I use an external USB drive, Seagate Expansion Drive which also works nicely. Except, when I plug in the USB drive in the powered-off NUC, the drive starts spinning - which is pretty annoying, since I have to do that every time after I copy media from another computer to the disk. Same behavior at front or back USB connections.

Is there any way to completely shut off the USB connections when the NUC is powered down or in sleep mode? I tried to find a respective option in the BIOS but couldn't find any.

Sorry if this was discussed before, my search didn't bring anything up. If it was I'd appreciate a pointer.

Just for completeness, the external drive spins down just fine when it is connected while the NUC is powered down.

Thank you for help with is.

I've got Windows 8.1 installed on my NUC and cannot get my XBOX remote to do anything in windows, but when I had OpenELEC installed worked flawlessly. Any idea why that is? I've got the latest drives for Win 8.1 installed.

I'm experiencing random wireless keyboard and mouse problems. Using Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 800. Mouse would freeze or lag + keyboard would be not respond. Then it will all be fine after a while (a few sec).

I have new batteries, moved the receiver to the front and facing the wireless keyboard and mouse.

Using latest bios and drivers from Intel WYLPT10H.86A.0027.2014.07.10.1904

Win 8.1 x64

Updated drivers of wireless keyboard and mouse.

Anybody experienced this issue before and how to solve it?

Hoping to use the NUC without the keyboard and mouse wires...

Thks

DN2820FYKH help please!

Hi guys,

Sorry to post, I did search but I think my issue is different/valid...

Anyway, I purchased the DN2820FYKH along with 4GB 1600MHz DDR3L CL9 SODIMM 1.35V HyperX Impact Black Series and Adata Premier Pro Sp600 32gb 2.5" SSD

The plan is to install OpenELEC

So, out of the box, I installed the RAM and SSD but when I try and boot it on to my Samsung 40" LED TV, I just get "signal not found"

The white light is blinking on the button but nothing happens after that.

From reading, i see the issue can be caused by incompatible RAM but from what I understand, my RAM is fine.  In fact, ebuyer recommend it!

I haven;t messed with any bios yet as, to be frank, I don't know where to start!

Can anybody offer me any advice/tips/suggestions/actions please?

Thank you!

Help! If you have a 7200rpm internal drive, what are your temps?

Hey guys! I have a WD Black Scorpio 7200rpm 2.5 internal sata in my NUC and I'm seeing max temps at 60c!

Please report here if you have the same setup with your max temps seen! I'm kind of bugging out that this seems way too high for a temp on a HDD.

Is this normal or not?

Thanks!

DN2820FYKH wake from S5 with remote

$

Hi dear NUC community

I ordered a DN2820FYKH for HTPC perpose. I installed a 60GB SSD and 4 gigs of ram. Beside the thermal trip error everything works fine. I have a old Zotac MCE Remote wich works out of the box with OPENELEC. I can even shutdown the NUC with it. The only thing i couldnt get to work is the wake up from cold (S5 state). I have read all the post in this Forum about it i even installed windows 7 and windows 8.1 like suggested in some posts, loaded the driver but still no wake up from S5. I think i did something wrong in the BIOS can someone tell mi the exact settings for wake up by remote? By the way dear Intel this BIOS is a complete mess. I updated to BIOS Version 39.

If someone got the wake up from S5 to work, can you please tell me your BIOS Version, Your exact Remote your using, and wich BIOS Settings you have.

Thanks to all reply and thoughts

Intel DN2820FYKH will not boot!

I got a DN28820FYKH this week, with the intention of installing openelec an uding purely for xbmc.

However, I've not been able to get it to do anything.

Installed the RAM OK. I intend to use a USB rather than SSD. It's simply for XBMC, so I plan using Openelec.

However, as soon as it's plugged in to the monitor, I get the NUC splash screen but it will not respond to any key presses (I have tried two keyboards).

I created a bootable USB, but it tells me there is no bootable device detected. (I tried three different sticks, and various methods of creating a bootable stick).

So, I assumed there's a problem with the bios. I follow the Intel instructions to recover the bios and get the message "bios security jumper removed - Suppress this menu until the bios security jumper is replaced - Clear bios user and supervisor passwords".

I am completely stuck now. Any help would be appreciated, although I do feel I have tried everything!
