I am trying to attach ASUS ROG station 2 to my NUC.

I have installed "Thunderbolt™ bus driver" and when I "View attached devices" there is nothing there.

I have installed the latest Bios "KYSKLi70.86A.0050.2017.083" and selected Devices/Thunderbolt in BIOS setup.

When I run "Intel Driver and Support Assistant" everything is up to date.

I have also attatched DxDiag.txt to this question.

What to do ?

Loving my KYK

I know most come to the forums because they have problems they are trying to solve...

I purchased my NUC6i7KYK in January of 2017.  I absolutely love it.  I run Windows 10, with 8GB of RAM and a 512 GB M2 storage.  It's been awesome.  Boot-up time is amazing, and the performance has been fantastic for what I do.  Typical usage is Office documents, browsing the internet, and Lightroom for managing a library of 15,000+ pictures.

This is my first "mini computer".   I've built and used computers since my first Coleco ADAM computer back in 1983...  I wasn't sure what to expect from this NUC but I can say I have zero complaints!

6i5SYH no video signal

Hello. I bought on ebay 6i5syh. The seller sent to another country with assurances that everything is working.

1. Got the goods, inserted the RAM (HMA451S6AFR8N-TF NO AC), turned on - the blue diode is on, there is no video signal for hdmi.

The seller says that the problem is in the RAM.

2. I bought and installed Crucial RAM. No Video signal.

3. I buy an adapter with a minidisplay port on hdmi. No video signal.

4. Inserting back HMA451S6AFR8N-TF NO AC - Power LED is blinking in a pattern of three.

5. HDD indicator dont blink.

Prompt please - whether there is a chance to revive nuc?

P.S.: I appeal in support of intel. Since I am not the first owner, I do not have the right to a guarantee. intel congratulated me on the purchase of a beautiful alumna useless box.

NUC5i3RYH networking issues

Hi,

I've installed Lubuntu 17.10 on my new NUC5i3RYH and everything seems fine except the wired network. I can see the device using the usual Linux tools (ip, ifconfig, ethtool, lshw, etc.), assign an IP configuration to it and bring the device up. The ethtool utility reports that the device has a full-duplex Gigabit link to the switch (a Netgear GS108GE), the LEDs of the NUC's ethernet port and the Switch are lit thus saying the same as ethtool: the link is up. I can ping the device from the NUC itself, but however, I cannot send or receive packets from other machines in the network. What I've tried so far: checked the BIOS that the Ethernet device is activated (which it is), changed the switch port, the network cable, updated the BIOS (from RY0367.bio) and the intel network drivers (new version 3.4.0.2-NAPI). Still no success.

Do you have any advice what I could try before asking my vendor to exchange the device?

Kind regards,

Luke

Dual displays on thunderbolt 3 / USB-C port

Hi, i have already read others discussions about this and i came with a possible solution for my case (need three displays connected), but i need confirmation.

In Intel product compatibility page for NUC7i7BNH it is listed an USB Type-C docking station (UD-ULTCDL) from Plugable.

I wonder if it is really full compatible as it says on this page, assuming it will work for connecting 2 monitors on the USB-C port. As my interest is only on that I need to know it before buying the dock that is very expensive.

Thanks

LG27UD58 disconnects when trying to install Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Hello,

I just bought a NUC 6i7KYK.

The system:

- RAM: 1x Crucial 8 GB DDR4 2133 SODIMM 1.2 V CL15

- SSD: 1x Crucial 275 GB MX300 SATA M.2 2280SS

- BIOS: updated to 0050 (0041 was installed)

- Monitor: LG 27UD58 UHD 4K 27"

The goal:

- running Ubuntu 16.04.3 Desktop

The method:

- downloaded the Ubuntu ISO image to my Win 7 HP EliteBook

- prepared a 16 GB SanDisk USB 3.0 stick using rufus 2.18.1213 (thoroughly formatted and checked for defects, took almost an hour ...)

- booted the NUC with the USB in the front blue USB slot of the NUC (haven't tried others because that is not a very likely cause); power, HDMI, ethernet, mouse and keyboard connected

- the NUC recognises the boorable device and steers me right to the grub screen of the Ubuntu installer

so far so good ...

Now the issue:

No matter what option I choose (try Ubuntu without installing, installing Ubuntu or installing Ubuntu as manufacturer (yup, I even tried that)) the connection between the NUC and the LG is lost. The power Button on the NUC does not indicate anything. The device just keeps running (LEDs on without blinking or beeping and fan running). I supose it's loading the installer for Ubuntu, but I cannot see that because the monitor goes to power saving mode. Switching the RAM to the other slot didn't help. The compatibility between the NUC and the LG doesn't seem to be the problem, because I see things. I see the boot screen, I can enter the BIOS (obviously since I updated it) and I see see the initial Ubuntu boot screen. The bootable USB device isn't the cause either, because I can boot my EliteBook with it and go all the way to the actual Ubuntu installer. I can not test another monitor (do not have access to one with HDMI connection) or different RAM.

Anyone got any ideas how to solve this mystery? Or am I missing something obvious?

Hi,

i have new NUC6CAYH. Latest bios 0045, latest HDMI firmware 1.72. Current Windows 10 Home. HDMI 2.0 cable.

When I set the monitor to turn off after x minutes (windows settings - power a sleep), the monitor turns off for only 1 second and then switches on again (black screen 3 second). Then again 1 second off and on. And over and over again. When I move the mouse, the monitor turns on.

Any idea?

Clean windows installed nuc pc refusing to shut down, and automatically restart the machine.

I solved this problem by reducing video aperture memory size to 512mb from 1024mb in uefi bios.

I downloaded the latest drivers and BIOS from intel and attempted to update them.

After the BIOS was updated it went to a black screen.  I could not see anything on the display.  I purchased all different adapter types and I have even tried the recovery options specified in other posts.

All suggest pressing keys when prompted but I do not see anything.  I did hear the 3 beeps but the last time I tried to hear the 3 beeps it did not have any sound.  Still no video at all.

NUC7i5BNH Dual Monitors

Hello,

I’m interesting with buying Intel NUC PC, But I don’t know how to connect 2 monitors and if its possible.

I saw that NUC7i5BNH having 1 HDMI output, And 1 USB 3.1output.

One monitor can be connected via HDMI output.

For the second monitor I need to buy a USB3.1 TO HDMI cable? The adapter is included in the box?

What are my options to connect the second monitor (And what i need to buy)?

Thanks.

very poor graphics performance; Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Hi,

I have a problem with playing videos. I'm not sure if this is related to hardware, drivers, the OS (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS) or a combination of those. The videos are stuttering and when the "camera" is moving vertically or horizontally (but not in and out, i. e. zoom) I get vertical breaks or glitches in the video's frames, as if the image was put together in parts of three or four, seperately. So, videos are unwatchable. So far I've tried Netflix and Youtube. Video quality doesn't matter, the glitches and the stuttering are present in 360p videos, too. Neither does the browser (used Firefox and Chromium). I also tried a YT video offline via VLC -> same thing. I'm not really sure but it feels like I can see these glitches in other non video apps, too. For example, whenn I scroll through a list of installed apps in Ubuntu Software.

Also, Firefox is extremely slow in general. Scrolling through pages is a pain in the ***. Less on pages like search results (I use DuckDuckGo) and very bad when there are lots of video thumbnails like Youtube or Netflix.

I use a LG27UD58 4K UHD monitor, connected via HDMI. I have 8 GB of RAM installed, could this be the cause? More memory needed?

Locked out of my NUC, help!

I think that I trapped into a BIOS bug (bios version is most recent, I flashed the latest one from the Intel website a few days ago).

I had lots of trouble getting Windows 7 installed on that thing (this is another story), and at one deperate point I enabled the BIOS function "BIOS setup auto-entry" in the boot configuration.

The result is that I now get the attached screen when powering on. The problem here is that the BIOS hasn't initialized the keyboard at this time! There seems to be no way beyond this point.

I tried a lot of things, and the only way that I can get around this is by removing the BIOS security jumper *and* the CMOS battery. I can get into the BIOS setup again, but nothing has an effect. I can disable that "auto-entry" function as often as I can, the system keeps being locked.

I have access to the flashrom tool, and could even unsolder the flash chip and reprogram sections of it, if I knew what to change. I think even an SPI flash chip from a broken NUC would help, if anyone has one.

NUC7i5BNH M2 SSD not recognized

Dear Support,

Last week I discovered that my NUC7i5BNH did not discover my Samsung 960 EVO M2 SSD when it was installed as the only SSD.

I was using the latest BIOS 060 and also tried BIOS 057.

The M2 settings in BIOS kept showing "Not populated".

Only after temporary installing a Sata SSD, the M2 SSD was showing up and was useable.

After this, I did remove the Sata SSD and the M2 SSD was still seen.

Is this a bug?

Kind Regards,

Marco

NUC7I5BNH or NUC7I5DNHE for ESXI?

$

Hi all,

As a newcomer to NUC's I'm interested in setting one up as a home-lab server using ESXI 6.5.0. Running various VM's and surveillance software, so need something powered on 24/7 that doesn't use too much power. I 'may' be interested in running windows server but not critical though.

I currently have home built server using Supermicro motherboard with many drives, mxgpu, 10G NIC etc. however having this on 24/7 is proving costly, and TBH don't really need all the functionality 24/7.

From the two NUC's mentioned in the title I can see the DNHE has a Vpro chip. I'm not familiar with the terminology, would that give some kind of IPMI functionality? Would I be able to remotely start and stop the NUC if acting as a server?

Would it be worth sacrificing the microphone, headphone, USB-C, IR on the BNH purely for the remote functionality of the DNHE (if that is indeed what Vpro does?).

I'm stuck with the decision, so if anyone could shine a light in the right direction, and/or has experience with ESXI on either NUC and setting up additional NIC's I'd be grateful for any input.

Cheers....
