NUC 6i6SYK Screen turns black - HDMI 4K, miniDP - No picture

$

Just bought the PC above, problems so far:

Installed latest bios and drivers, fully updated windows 10.

No Network card found when installing drivers, got it working eventually with old driver found over WiFi. Ethernet now working. Saw others had this problem too.

Tried getting 4K 60 Hz signal over the miniDP output, but no picture or signal, just black. Did not dare to set Bios at just DP, what if there is no Picture at all at boot?

With HDMI 4K 29/30Hz, the screen turns black for a second, but comes back, sometimes more seldom, other times all the time. Read the long thread about this problem with the NUC 7 series. Is the 4664 (or was it 6446?) version of the graphics driver recommended there working with the NUC 6 series?

How common is this black screen problem?, all devices or just a few? Both 6 and 7 series?

I tried lowering the resolution, but the screen flickering did not stop. Setting desktop zoom to zero got stable screen for a long time, but occational blackout still occurs.

Could it be related to the desktop zoom feature in windows? Power/heat/cable/drivers? The cabels work with othes PCs.

Sorry for the crappy English, not my first or second language.

NUC7i5BNH totally unresponsive

Hi, I've just bought a NUC7i5BNH, but when I try to install the OS nothing happens.

The box says:

What's needed

DDR4 SO-DIMM RAM

M.2 SSD and/or 2.5'' SATA HDD/SSD

So I've installed this RAM V7 8GB DDR4 PC4_19200 _ 2400MHZ SO DIMM Notebook Memory Module _ V7192008GBS and this SSD (120GB, 2.5'') WD Green PC SSD - Solid State Drive | Western Digital (WD)

I've created a bootable USB drive with Windows 10, plugged it in, connected the NUC to a regular monitor via HDMI, connected an ethernet cable, keyboard and mouse: no response whatsoever.

Just a black screen (no signal detected), no BIOS, no error messages, no sound, the keyboard and mouse don't even appear to be powered up.

I had never used a NUC before but I just assumed it would work like a "normal" computer, am I missing something?

Since it's the second time (the exact same thing happened with a previous kit I sent back because I assumed it was malfunctioning), I must either be very unlucky or just too dumb to use one of these things.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

NUC7i5BNK - Wake on TV not working after BIOS update to 60 and Win reinstall

I had to reinstall Win 10 on my NUC7i5BNK, so I decided to update BIOS too. I updated it from v. 54 to 60, reinstalled Windows and I cannot start my NUC by TV anymore. Other HDMI-CEC functions work OK (NUC is switched off with the TV and TV is switched on, when NUC is booting after press of the power button). It worked like a charm before the update... Any suggestions? Thank you.

I just purchased a Intel Nuc 6i7KYK for a live streaming/HD video broadcasting setup for our church.  I have the camera connected to the Thunderbolt and Nuc but nothing happens.  Can someone provide some details to how to install the driver or what is necessary to get the Nuc to recognize the thunderbolt and cameras.

Does anybody know what the digital microphone protocol on the NUC7i7 and 7i5BN boards is?  I believe it may be I2S but there is no clarification on what the data format and clock speeds are.   I am building a custom case for this board and want to set up Microsoft Cortona, however I need a digital microphone input to do so.

thanks

Eric.

Intel nuc 5i3RYH and home theatre system

Hello, help for this problem:

I have an Intel NUC 5i3RYH with WINDOWS 10 PRO 64bits  connected to a Samsung TV and to a home theater system like this:

Intel nuc with mini HDMI - HDMI cable at the input of the switch that I report in the picture below.

HDMI out of the switch to the Samsung TV and S/PFID out to the home theater system.

I downloaded and updated the REALTEK codecs to the R2.82 version.

Problem

From the audio settings of the control panel the system only detects the Samsung TV and speakers not connected and there is not digital S/PIFD audio.

because? How do you solve it?

Questions

I want to send the Dolby and DTS signal to the Home Theater system, can I do that?

Thanks to everyone who will answer me.

NUC6CAYH - Ubuntu 16.04 - Auto Power-On every day?

$

Hi All,

I just purchased an Intel NUC to be used with Ubuntu 16.04,

I have found a gui utility to schedule the machine to turn off each night,

However, I am trying to find a way to get the machine to auto power-on/Start up each morning.

I have tried the Power - Scheduled Wake Up options in the BIOS, however it doesn't work. It will not power on.

Is this technically possible, ie, schedule a Non-Windows OS on Intel NUC to power-own each morning from either the BIOS or a GUI App (I dont want to manually run a script each day).

Thanks.

Another question in the BIOS the temps. are way higher then when booted into Linux, is this normal?

It displays ~58°C as CPU temp. idle. See above for idle temps. when booted.

New NUC7i7BNH - CPU Core Temp Running at 70c While Idle

$

Hello,

I recently purchased a NUC7i7BNH and installed a 250GB Samsung 960 EVO M.2 SSD and 8GB of Crucial RAM.  I flashed the BIOS to BNKBL357.86A.0060.2017.1214.2013 and installed Windows 10 Pro with no problems.  However, the fan was running louder than I'd like.  I went into the BIOS to adjust the Fan Control Mode to "Quiet," but that didn't seem to have any effect.  I even changed it to "Fanless" and still no improvement.  The fan constantly runs at 3,400 RPM according to the BIOS, but I noticed that the CPU Core Temp is running at 70 degrees.  I wouldn't expect the temp to be that high in the BIOS.  Am I mistaken or is there something wrong with this unit?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I currently use a NUC7i7BNH with a "PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD" without a 2.5" SSD.  Should I be removing the 2.5" SSD tray completely to allow for more airflow inside the case, or keeping it in there?

NUC5i5RYH - Cannot install Win 10 on M.2

Hi, I've seen this asked but haven't seen a solution.

NUC5i5RYH - M.2 SSD - Win 10. - BIOS 367

When trying to install Win10 via USB. I get to the "Where do you want to install Windows" disk screen and even though I can see the M.2 disk, I get the error "Windows cannot be installed to this disk......"

Bios --> Devices --> SATA  I see the M.2 listed there.

Bios --> Boot --> Boot Priority I see "UEFI: USB:UEFI:USB:8.07:PART0:OS Bootloader...."

I have tried with and without UEFI enabled.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Chris

NUC7i7BNH refuses to hibernate after restart

$

Hi,

I'm not entirely sure whether the issue is NUC related or purely a Windows bug, but I only ever encountered it with the new NUC. The OS is Win 10 x64 Education with all patches installed to this date. I have a PCIe SSD, a SATA HDD and 8GB RAM installed.

The problem is the following: If the NUC boots up after a restart (regular restart button or "shutdown -r") and then I try to hibernate it, the screen goes dark for a second and then I'm immediately back to the lock screen (or to the desktop if entering the password after sleep/hibernate is disabled). If I try to hibernate it via command line ("shutdown -h"), it does the same and returns an error: "Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service (1450)." Sleep mode (S3, suspend to RAM) still works though. It also seems not to depend on whether the hybrid sleep mode or the quick boot mode is on in the power settings.

However, if I shutdown the NUC completely ("shutdown -s") and boot it up by pressing the power button, hibernation works again and I can boot up and hibernate indefinitely. Only if there is a restart in between, hibernation will stop working until it's shutdown and started up again via the power button.

That's very strange behavior and I don't know where to even start troubleshooting, as there is no error in the event log if the hibernation fails with the 1450 code. And since the problem consistently happens after a restart (i.e. where the NUC is not technically powered down before booting up), I suspect it might be hardware related...

Could anybody reproduce this?

So all installed fine - scanning shows all have updated. Now matter how many times I install this update, it doesn't change.  Says latest version is 22.9

and says installed is   12.17.8.7

I have done a full remove - and a uninstall of this from device manager.  Installed  LAAN_WIN (new version) and scanning says I still have same old version!?!?

I have a 7@I7 nuc, that will not go to sleep. I do not know if this is caused by Microsoft upgrades or Intel driver upgrades. I have tried the various fault finding procedures, on Google searches, but I cannot find anything wrong.

Any suggestions.
