Detected bios security jumper removed on NUC D34010WY with bios 0018?

Hi,

Yesterday evening while surfing the web my win 8.1 NUC just froze and then BSODed. I got tired of waiting and shut it down since the % wasnt moving. Afterwards the machine wouldn't boot. I got the NUC post screen with F2 etc on it and then it jumps to a black screen with the message:

"Detected bios security jumper removed"

and 2 choices that doesnt do anything exept that one removes this screen on the next boot and instead tells me that I have no bootable device.

I have tried:

- to enter bios with F2: doesnt work

- to press the other F keys: doesnt work

- remove, change places, put back the jumper: no change

- remove keyboard and all other USB stuff: no change

- remove a memory unit: no change

I am running a NUC D34010WY with bios 0018, 16GB of ram and a ~128GB SSD and have never had any issues untill now.

Does anyone / support have suggestions what to do and what might have happened?

Greatful for any answers.

DN2820FYKH cannot upgrade bios power light flashing and freezes

Where do i start !! .. This product could be amazing yet seems to be getting harder to deal with !

1) Cannot boot off any USB Key with operating system or USB CDROM drive. It does not recoginises any of them in the boot option ( believe it's F10 ) ....

2) Oh well I thought it must be the BIOS after reading a number of discussions on this. I download the latest version put it on USB and try and upgrade ( What so it can read a USB with a bios but you cannot choose it to boot from !!! )..... When it loads the file the PC freezes and the power light flashes.... and there it stay..... you wait ... you wait... and nothing....

Hence maybe a large part of my fustration !!! I was going to use the hammer to fix the issue... although returning it to the shop with sorry about the dents it slipped out of my hands might be frowned upon !!!

Although in it's favour it does make a amazing doorstop on wooden floors !!!!

Any help would be appreciated !

Intel NUC DN2820FYK startup issue

After I update the bios (0038) and installed Windows 7x64, I stopped the system, and when I tried to restart, although I press the power button, it does not react at all. The green light is lit and that. Nothing else.

I changed the jumper from position 1-2 to position 2-3 but the problem persists.

I disconnected the CMOS battery and I reconnected it, but nothing - the system will not start at all. Only the green LED is lit.

Can someone help me?

DN2820FYKH black screen after installing intel graphics driver

Hello,

i have an Intel NUC DN2820FYKH (Windows 8.1 x64 installed on it) since a few weeks. My nuc is connected to a Samsung UE55F7090SLXZG over HDMI. It did work without problems until today. Today i started my nuc and i only get a black screen after the windows boot logo. After that i connected to it via remote desktop and uninstalled the Intel graphics driver. Now it works again, but i don't have the correct display resolutions. So i installed the Intel graphics driver (latest version 10.18.10.3621) again and now i have a black screen again.

Does anyone have an idea why my nuc stopped working with the Intel graphics driver so sudden? it did work with them for a few weeks and now without changing anything it stopped working.

(Sorry if my Englishisn't that good. But it isn't my first language.)

Win 7 installation issue on d54250wykh

Hi,

My NUC's Configuration:

nuc: d54250wyk

memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-8GRSL

hard drive: Western Digital Scorpio Black WD7500BPKT 750GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive Bare Drive

No msata SSD/wifi.

Win 7 installation files are on a bootable flash drive created by Windows 7 usb/dvd download tool.

I got an error after win 7 installation files loading. "The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt."

But I have successfully install win 7 on a Thinkpad T420 with this flash drive and the same harddrive. So, flash drive and hard drive should be GOOD.

The NUC BIOS is updated to latest.

Do I have to put a msata SSD in, and the windows has to be installed on SSD? Anything wrong with my NUC?

Thanks.

DN2820FYKH SATA drive not recognized

Hi all,

I own a DN2820FYK since roughly 3 months, and so far I am pretty impressed by the little box. Right now I am facing some issues that I hope you can help me resolve, as I have had no luck so far.
Here goes:

After unboxing 3 months ago, I updated the BIOS,  attached a USB3.0 External HDD to the NUC, booted from a Live usb stick and installed XBMCBuntu on the external disk. Flawless, no issues whatsoever.

I have been using this setup for a while and would now really like to switch to regular (desktop) Ubuntu for various reasons. As I could also really use the extra USB port and don't want the hassle of USB-hubs, I thought it would be a good time to change to using the internal SATA port of the NUC.
After backing up the data, I formatted the USB3 drive,  disconnected the USB3.0 drive, opened it up and indeed found a 2.5" Sata Toshiba 1TB notebook drive (MQ01ABD100) connected to a SATA to USB3.0 controller. In took the disk out and installed it in the NUC.

I created a Ubuntu live USB stick, booted into the Ubuntu installer only to find the disk not recognized. No disk hardware is found at all.

I connected the Toshiba internal drive (using SATA) to my windows machine to find it was working perfectly. I formatted the drive (again) and deleted all volumes/partitions, so it now shows as 1 TB of continuous un-allocated space. Reinstalled the drive into the NUC, updated the NUC BIOS (0038 rev.1455). The BIOS does not detect the disk at all, it is not selectable in the boot selection menu, and the drive does not spin up. At first I thought about a bad SATA controller or connection, but Live Ubuntu's lspci command neatly shows the SATA controller being present.
After this I did a BIOS reset (using the yellow jumper) and tried the whole procedure again, to no avail.
BIOS SATA settings are left at default (although I tried all options) as this is supposed to be correct for using SATA drives.

I would really hate having to go back to using the External HDD as the primary drive for the NUC.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

DN2820FYKH : No resume from power down - ACPI error

$

I use my 2820FYKH as a stand alone Media Centre + PVR, using "DVBviewer" as Media Centre software. When I schedule a TV recording, the software sends the computer to hibernation and configures it to automatically resume 5 minutes ahead of the recording time. DVBviewer is using Windows' Task Scheduler to perform the necessary operations.

Initiating hibernation works as expected, but the NUC never resumes from there. I have to manually press the ON button to start resuming. (the same happens if "standby" is used instead of "hibernation").

This makes it useless for scheduled recording.

From earlier installations on different computers I know that DVBviewer works flawlessly, so I checked Windows' Event Viewer and found error messages which (from event time) may correspond to the above:

"ACPI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal PCI Operation Region (0x4), Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance."

"ACPI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal PCI Operation Region (0x10), Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance."

"ACPI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal PCI Operation Region (0x12), Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance."

Is there any advice how to get the resume working?

Thank you very much for assistance.

D54250WYKH bios does not recognize 2.5 sata HDD

Hi,

I have just bought nuc D54250 WYKH, 4GB DDR3L*2EA, Intel 7260 7260HMW wireless card, and WD Blue 1TB 2.5 sata HDD (WD10JPVX).

When I tried to assemble all the parts, the SATA HDD does not recognized by NUC from the beginning of BIOS.

The bios is updated as the newest version as 0027.

Even though the 2.5 HDD is connected to in the nuc, the bios does not recognized it.

It shows that 'sata port 0 [not present]' on the bios setting (device tab - sata).

Is it power problem or what is wrong with brand new my NUC?

If there is somebody to help and solve this problem, it will be very grateful.

Thank you for your kind help in advance.

Problem with booting DE3815TYKHE

Hello. I cannot launch the board DE3815TYKHE I bought 2 weeks ago. I set the necessary RAM - Crucial CT51264BF160B 1.35V. I connected a monitor to HDMI port. When I am trying to switch the board on, the monitor is just black (the monitor works well with another devices). A blue LED on the board is permanently lit. A green LED near SATA connector is also lit. Ethernet doesn't work as well (LEDs are always off).

D54250WYK power on problems

Hi,

I have two problems:

  1. When shutting down the device it goes off, but can start up by itself and it seems to be randomly (For instance you can shut it down in the evening and the next morning you find it powered up)
  2. When suspending the device it goes in sleep mode and the power button is slowly blinking blue. Usually you just push the power button and the device starts up, however now it has happened three times that nothing happens when pushing the power button. The power button still blinks slowly. I tried to power reset the NUC (unplugging the power) but then the power button is just dead and nothing happens when pressing it.

Some history:

Around three months ago I bought this NUC together with the following parts:

2 x Corsair 1600 MHz SO-DIMM DDR3L 4GB 1,35v

Intel 525 series 120GB SSD mSATA

Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 7260

I upgraded BIOS (025 at that time) and installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. When BIOS 026 was released I installed that which fixed the problem with WiFi disconnections I experienced.

Around a month ago I experienced problem no 2. Nothing happened when pressing the power button. I returned the NUC to where I bought it and they checked it and it ended up with that they exchanged it to a new device.

When I got the new NUC the BIOS 027 had been released so I upgraded to that one. Not so long time after I got the new NUC, problem no 1 started and problem no 2 has happened two times.

The problems:

1. This happens more or less every time when shutting it down. I haven't found any pattern when it starts up automatically. It can start up after a few hours after shutting it down. Sometimes I find it started up the next morning. Sometimes I shut it down in the evening before going to bed, the next morning it is still off and when I come back from work its on.

2. The second time the device stopped responding when pressing the power button, I started to search this forum and found some suggestion to recover from this state. Un-/re-plugging the CMOS battery helped. However when it happened yet another time (yesterday) that made me writing this hoping to get a permanent fix (or confirmation that the device is broken). It's pretty annoying to have to open the case and unscrew the main board to get to the battery every time the NUC locks up.

Faulty memory slot - D54250WYK?

$

I'm configuring a brand new Intel NUC D54250WYK with two Corsair 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz.

However only 8 GB gets recognized. I've tried all possible configurations with the two memory modules and the two memory slots. Both memory cards work when they are put in the upper slot one at a time, but I can't get the system to recognize memory put into the lower slot.

Whenever there is a memory module in the upper slot, regardless if the lower slot is occupied or not, the system boots correctly but only recognizes 8 GB.

When i put a memory module in the lower slot and leave the upper one empty I do not get any flashing light or any indication that the memory is faulty but the display is all black and I don't seem to boot at all.

Could this be a faulty memory slot on the NUC board? Should I request a replacement system from the store?

I had recently purchased a D54250WYKH NUC and  I have instlled Linux Mint 17 on this machine. I have a Kingston 120GB SSD Msata Drive and Crucial 16GB kit (8GBx2) 204-pin SODIMM DDR3 PC3-12800 memory module.

The system was working perfectly well until yesterday when I had done a hibernate. After this the power button would not power up and show the blue light.

The problem do not seem to be with the power cord since if there light on the Ethernet cable and any USB drive plugged in has leds light up.

I searched in the fourms and found this link D54250WYK power on problems.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue is greatly appreciated.

System Interrupts 99% on DE3815TYBE with Windows 8.1 and Fast Startup

Hi

Here is my Config

Intel NUC DE3815TYBE

BIOS 0032

Crucial 8GB RAM

Samsung 840 SSD 120GB

Windows 8.1 Pro 64bits, booting UEFI, updated

July 2014 Driver Bundle for Windows 8.1 x64

Every time I power up the Nuc, windows will show 99% cpu usage on system Interrupts, system will be very very slow.

The problem also happens when I shutdown windows and power up it again.

When I reboot the problems disappears.

Cause of this strange behavior I suspected that Windows 8.1 fast startup (hybrid boot) was causing it so I disabled it.

I guess there is a bug somewhere in the bios or in the intel drivers, cause fast startup works fine in many PCs I have installed with same version of Windows but not here.

Please help me fix the problem before people will blame the CPU for the slowness of windows 8.1 on this nuc.

I have downloaded the latest drivers but only stereo is supported by my device.  I am using HDMI 2.0 cables.  I can see there are other people (Re: D54250WYK only 2 ch audio???) with similar issues.  What is the cause of this and how can I fix it?
