Supervisor Password Settings not getting updated with custom BIOS update file

$

Hi,

I am creating my own BIOS update file to deploy across our various devices, so I want to create one with all our needed custom settings (Power, Boot, Security etc.)

The problem is that even though I have set the Supervisor Password under Security menu and then created my custom BIOS update file, it is not getting carried over after the BIOS update on another NUC. On the other NUC the Supervisor password is still set to Not Installed.

I am using BIOS Firmware BN0065 version, and created my custom BIOS update file, as per Intel Integrator Toolkit instructions from the internal UEFI shell using ITK6.efi –b –x mycustom65.bio –ib BN0065.bio –ic –il myLogo.jpg

All help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Regards,

FSTech

FYI: This is similar to my other unresolved query where a Power setting was not getting carried over - https://communities.intel.com/thread/126655

Usb and BIOS problem on NUC5CPHY

I recently made a test of copying image of hard drive into a usb hard drive. I use a jmicron usb to sata adapter. The hard drive i put in the adapter had 2 partitions. One for cloning software which is acronis true image if you guys need to know, and one was empty for storing images. After it was done i messed something with the OS which was debian so i copied the image i had backed up at the test. The restore failed which i believe its not a NUC problem and a software problem, also by saying restore failed i mean that it completed restore successfully but nuc did not boot from restored hard drive. But something worse happened. Now I cant boot from anything except the hard drive of NUC. It simply sees all uefi usb drives as a jmicron and when i try to boot from one, it returns to boot menu. And for legacy ones, it just boots to internal hard drive when i select it. I tryed to restore the bios but i dont know what gone wrong. I tried both jumper and power button to try restoring bios with a .bio file I downloaded and yes its the correct file I double checked. Nothing happens. When I choose restore bios, the nuc powers off and on 2 times and nothing happens. Same pre-restore bios revision, same pre-restore settings nothing was touched. And this happened with 4 different usb sticks each with same file on them. How can i fix this ?

Black screen

Dear community,

I'm using a  INTEL Nuc Intel Core i7-7567U (code NUC7I7BNHX1) since a two weeks.

My nuc is connected to a monitor by using an HDMI cable.

I noticed that randomly the screen become black for few seconds and than the image is shown again.

I uptodated all the drivers and the BIOS (here attached a report) but the problem continues. To be honest, it seems that it is worst than before now.

Any suggestions?

Best regards

Antonio

Using both mini displayports at the same time does not work

I have a nuc8i7hnk with three dell U2415 daisychained connected through one mini display port which works fine. If I remove one monitor from the chain and connect it to the other mini display port that monitor does not light up. I reviewed the input settings on the monitor. I disconnect the two daisychained monitors then the single monitor lights up (after reboot).  Can both mini display ports be active at the same time?

3D functionality for NUC8I7BE

I will possibly upgrade one of my other PCs with the new NUC817BE.

I searched for information on internet and found some sites with information.

One of these was this one:  Bean Canyon NUCs Officially Launched – The NUC Blog

Here is stated  that Intel had removed a 3D feature called Stero 3D.

There is a thread where this is discussed and some poeple are really unsatisfied with this?

How does this impact 3D functionalities when playing Blu-Ray 3D?

Can anyone explain this more extensively, preferably someone from Intel.

From Intel Tech Spec: "HDMI 2.0a is enabled by LSPCON (DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0a protocol converter); Stereo 3D (S3D) technology is not supported.”

Installing Linux Lite on NUC6CAYS

Dear all,

I have a NUC6CAYS. The PC came with a win10 preloaded on the eMMC card but right now windows consumed all the available space so I would like to install Linux Lite.

When I start the process, booting from an SD card, the installer asks me where to install Linux in the several partitions of the eMMC (see image). Which one should I choose?

I tried to use the mmcblk0p3 as you can see but it doesn't start...

Thanks

HVKV1 vs HVKV2

HI

I have had a problem with defective cooler as described here Vibration and Noise in midrange : Fan problem?

I was kindly offered by Intel support a money back for a defective unit, so I bought another NUC for replacement (no alternative for me on the market) on the trip

I have not had a chance yet to check how quiet it’s cooler is, will do it as soon as I get home, but I wonder what the difference is between HVK2 and HVK1, because the defective one is HVK2 (manufactured in June) and “new” one I bought is HVK1 (manufactured in May)

I could not google any information on the internet, so there should not be much of a difference, just wondering

P.s. For both, as per stickers below the unit, the regulatory model is NUC8HV, the same

NUC7i7BNH ethernet stopped working under Ubuntu

$

Hi all,

I put Ubuntu on a 7th generation Intel NUC (NUC7i7BNH). Started with 16.04 and everything was fine until last week or so. Then the wired ethernet stopped working (wireless is fine).

dmesg shows the following:

[ 5.713374] e1000e 0000:00:1f.6: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)

[ 5.713559] e1000e 0000:00:1f.6: Interrupt Throttling Rate (ints/sec) set to dynamic conservative mode

[ 6.732187] e1000e: probe of 0000:00:1f.6 failed with error -2

After lots of Googling and troubleshooting I've tried the following:

1) upgrading to 18.04

2) disabling wake on lan

3) disabling secure boot

4) downgrading bios to version where it was working

5) using intels updated e1000 drivers

None of these are working.

Anyone else have any ideas/have run into this? I'm at my wit's end trying to fix this.

NUC8i7BEH DRAM Frequency Unstable

I purchased the new NUC8i7BEH and paired it with:

HyperX Kingston Technology Impact 32GB Kit (2x16GB) 2400MHz DDR4 CL14 260-Pin SODIMM Laptop HX424S14IBK2/32

When looking at CPU-Z the DRAM frequency stays at 665 when the system is at idle (effective 1333 Dual channel speed) and then fluctuates to 1197 (effective 2400 which is what it should be) when the system is under load.

With everything that I could find, usually the DRAM is not suppose to fluctuate like that and should be constant.

Going into the BIOS Performance Tab under Memory, there is nothing that I am able to change under the current BIOS (which is the only one released, I even re flashed the BIOS)

The system is stable but it just seems weird and I don't know if it is a BIOS issue, RAM issue, Motherboard issue, or no issue.

Attached is the BIOS and the CPU-Z DRAM frequency changes.

NUC6CAYH and RDP

I use an NUC6CAYH to control my telescope using Microsoft Remote Desktop and it works like a champ.... unless I connect an external hard drive to any usb port or insert an SD card. Then RDP will not connect to the NUC. Remove the HD or SD and RDP will connect - without having to do a reboot. Any ideas?

Where can I download drivers for a NUC i7-8559U with Intel 655 graphics?

I have an 8th generation Intel NUC with the i7-8559U processor.  I've installed Windows 10, and I'm looking for Intel drivers for the Intel Iris Pro 655 graphics.

Going through the Intel Download center, I could find graphics drivers, but it does not support the i7-8559U processor.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

Windows 8.1 on 7PJYH

Hi, just wanna ask if someone already tried to run Win8.1x64 on 7PJYH. After Windows10 update complete broke my analog "HD Audio Controller" (driver issue, exclamation mark) I am pretty sure that i am facing a reinstall.  It's documented in other forums what this stup!d OS is doing. I am a pro user and don't have time for this silly OS updates nonsense they are shoving down our throats. Never been a fan of it since day 1 (GWX). Ubuntu's running fine , just considering Win8.1. Anyone got luck with the drivers, before I get to work ?

Thanks

Currently running the following setup on my new nuc

NUC7i3BNH on Windows 10 Pro

Yamaha RX-V483

I have updated bios, drivers, everything, but I cannot get my center speaker to work.  If I run the "configure speakers" test it is able to chime the center speaker, but when I try to play any media no audio comes out of the center speaker.  I am at my whit's end with this and cannot find a solution.

Any advice?

Windows 10 Power and Sleep settings missing for NUC8i7HNK

Windows 10 installed fine. All the drivers automatically installed from the Intel support site just fine. All the Windows 10 updates installed just fine.

I'm trying to control/set the amount of time the NUC waits until it goes to sleep, but the Settings / System / Power and Sleep screen only has a single drop-down box to control the "Screen" amount of time until it turns off.

What gives? Is there a separate utility from Intel that I need to download to control the power settings?

Hi there

I  am trying to turn on my brand new NUC with the remote after deep sleep (when bringing back power to the NUC). Doesn't work.

All work fine only after it has been powered on once.

I have updated bios to latest 55.

I have read it was a known problem a year ago, but it seemed it was fixed. Is this a bug that was brought back with latest bios update?

Am I doing something wrong?

Thx for the help

NUC7i5BNH Bios update failed, now cannot boot

Hey all,

Title says it really-- I just tried updating my NUC via the F7 update method with the BN00068.bio, the same method I would normally do. However this time it failed during the update with an error, and my device is now unbootable. I figured it may have been a corruption somehow, so I tried a bios recovery with 2 different USB's formatted to fat32.

The power button method produced no result, neither a beep or visual on my display. I then tried the jumper method, and still nothing. There are no menu's displayed at all, I can't get anything to work, and i'm now at wits end.

What can I do without any display? Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
