I'm currently in the process of trying to have my 6 month old NUC NUC7i7BN replaced due to it just shutting off and no longer switching on. I bought this with a 16GB Optane module installed. The first thing I did after buying it was to replace the Optane module with a Samsung M.2 SSD. Therein lies the issue. Intel wants me to send the NUC back with the Optane module whose whereabouts I have no idea. I informed the CS rep that I no longer have it and if could I send the NUC back without it. I got a reply saying that the "depot" needs it but he would try his best to get the approvals team to consider my request. I'd really be disappointed by not being able to get my defective NUC replaced because of a technicality. I was expecting a little more consideration given that this is a premium product. This is my fourth NUC and I was really tempted by the NUC 8. I must admit this is putting a damper on my enthusiasm for the NUC8. I'm still hoping that the CS rep comes through though. Has anybody been in this situation and how did it turn out?
I ran a search on this forum for a no signal issue with the NUC and didn't find an answer for my problem. I just purchased the NUC8i7HVK today. I installed the hard drive as well as the memory. When I power the unit on, my monitor gives me a no signal message. I'm using an HDMI cable and it doesn't show up. I used a display port cable and it still doesn't show up. Both cables work fine when I connect them to my older Skull Canyon NUC6i7KYK. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? The bios screen does not appear because there is simply no signal in the first place.
Thanks in advance

Hi all,
in 04 Feb 2016 I bought a NUC5CPYH. From the beginning it boots from SD an Ubuntu without any other storage. Days ago, the device dies i don't know why, it runs for a few minuts and then nothing. Well, it has been working fine so i decide to buy the same model again, plug the memory, the SD and try to boot. It shows the typical message that can't find a bootable device. No problem, i get into the BIOS and ... i can't see the SD card in any option. The broken NUC5CPYH comes with the Visualbios 2.2.16 and the new one with the 2.2.20 version. Then, need i to do a downgrade to get the SD boot option?
When I try to install the newest NIC driver 23.2 on my Windows 1803 X64 system the system freezes just after the installation start. What goes wrong ?
I am using NUC7PJYH BIOS Version 0039 - JYGLKCPX.86A.0039.2018.0528.1436

Hello,
I recently started deploying around a dozen NUC's and I am running into an issue. Due to asset and imaging requirements, we require the SMBIOS to be filled out with the serial number, manufacture and internal asset tag. Before you say you have to use tha ITK to push this data in.. I know.
You can see in the image above I have configured the SMBIOS settings the way we need them to be configured. Once this was complete I deployed our image and notice the drivers' injection script was very fast. So I logged into the machine once the image was deployed and noticed that I was unable to get the information required from the command prompt.
I have since reflashed the bios and even reset the SMBIOS settings and I am still unable to get this to work on 4 of my devices, some were working on previous BIOS version and are no longer on the latest.
I have about 5x NUC6i3SYK's and 8x NUC7i3BNK's ALL on their respective latest bios firmware. Some work some don't in both types. Most are imaged to UEFI windows 10 64bit using the same base image. We have 3 with a Windows 7 Image (Same Base)
SYSKLi35.86A.0066.UEFI
BNKBL357.86A.0064.UEFI
You can see from he above I have 3 stuck at the top and then the 3rd one in the second section I made a type and I am unable to correct it in the model number field.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello
My NUC stopped booting and the screen stays black.
The blue power led blinks 3 times, which seems to indicate a RAM issue (it used to work just fine).
I swapped the RAM stick with 2 others, different brands but both 1.35V, and tried in the 2 RAM slots. Still nothing.
A clear CMOS didn't help either.
The power supplies delivers 19.4V, the 5V, 3.3V and 1.35V on board are present.
Is there a troubleshooting procedure for the Serial presence detect (SPD) ?
Many thanks
Romain
Hi all,
Just received my new setup with Intel NUC8i7HNK. To get started quickly I first created an image of my old workstation (Intel NUC D54250WYK), but got hard crashes. Had to use the power button for a couple of seconds to reboot the machinTwo days ago I installed Windows fresh with all recent drivers (all from intel site) and bios (0040). Still have crashes. Even when only browsing with firefox with no other applications open.
Added components:
Memory: Kingston ValueRAM - DDR4 16GB - SO DIMM - 260PIN - 2400Mhz / PC4-19200 - C
SSD: Intel SSD 720p 256GB
Display: Dell Ultrasharp U3818DW
Keyboard/Mouse: Dell premier wireless
Please see output of ssu and ipdt attached. Hope someone knows the answer.
Best regards,

Hi all,
Just got myself a new LG 65B7 TV
Hooked my NUC to it - it switched to 4K automatically.
I has also able to change the output to 60Hz via the Intel management utility.
However, I do not see an option to change the color depth or format.
I saw some screen captures in other topics where people have an "advanced" in the "display" menu - while I do not.
Is it something I have to enable somehow?
Maybe the missing settings are hiding there...
Anyway, my current settings are stuck at 4K@60p with 8-bit YCbCr420, and I do not see any way to change those.
Updated the graphics drivers, flashed HDMI firmware, flashed BIOS, Windows is updated to the creators update.
Regarding HDR - I do see the toggle - but when toggled - it just goes back to being off.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hi,
I downloaded the latest BIOS (AY0050.bio) to address the SA-00086 vulnerability.
When I run the SA-00086 Detection Tool, the error message I get is that ICLS is obsolete. Minimum required version is 1.47.715.0
How would I get icls client version 1.47.715.0 ?
Please see attachment for full message from SA-00086 Detection tool.
Thanks,
Nelson
i purchased a new Hades Canyon, and started using it today. Already I’ve encountered a few major issues, and I think I’ve seen threads from other people with similar problems.
Firstly, when using an hdmi output, the computer fails to recognize the television(or monitor, I tried both)as being available. The headphone jack works fine, but neither of the hdmi outputs seem to work. I’ve tried multiple screens as well as different hdmi cables.
Secondly, when attempting to watch a video, more often than not I’m seeing a large amount of video flicker. Videos streamed in iTunes are al,ost unwatchable because of this. Videos off of an external hard drive I have are better, but still not good.
I have Windows 10 home installed, and have updated to bios 40(the latest one I could find for this unit).
All,
I've seen a few threads related to my issue but no solution that I found

I have exactly the same issue where audio device disappears when amplifier and/or TV is turned off. I have 2 new NUC7i5bnh with updated bios/drivers etc. And, I get the problem on 2 different setups (1 going to onkyo receiver; 1 going to Samsung TV directly). Is there a solution here?
Using this as an HTPC for my mom. Right now it's hooked up HDMI into her receiver, which then of course connects to her TV HDMI. It works great, no problems, until she stops for the night and turns off her TV and Receiver. When this happens, the NUC (Windows 10 x64) shows the speakers are disconnected. Since the receiver is off, and the audio device is the HDMI, that makes sense. The problem is it doesn't come back when everything gets turned back on. We have to reboot the NUC to get it to recognize it again, and this gets annoying because it kills the VPN and I have to remote in and reconnect it and so on and so forth. The audio device still shows up in device manager, but does NOT show up at all under playback devices, even as a disconnected device. Any ideas?
Just upgraded Intel NUC Kit D54250WYKH with Crucial MX500 500GB SATA 2.5-inch 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter) Internal SSD (CT500MX500SSD1) and experiencing high hard drive temperatures (over 50C).
Raised fan minimum duty cycle and managed to lower HDD temperature to 48C per instructions:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005914/mini-pcs/intel-nuc-kits.html
Since D54250WYKH is discontinued and does not have the thermal pad already installed, how/where to purchase thermal pad for it?
I understand thermal pad should stick to chassis, but when closed it should slightly touch SSD which is 7mm (thinner than original 9.5mm).
Anybody aware of what exactly thermal pad should I purchase to resolve high SSD temperature?
Many thanks.
the integrated Digital microphone did worked when I install Win10 at first, but if I install the "Realtek* High Definition Audio Driver for Intel® NUC Kit NUC8i7HNK, NUC8i7HVK" version 6.0.1.8323 provided, the microphone stopped working, I tried several times ,same results.
So i had to uninstall intel driver and then install the realtek HD audio driver from the realtek's own website, http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsview.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false, it really worked and saved my microphone back, but without the Realtek HD Audio Manager, anyone surfer same problem ? How can I got the microphone and the realtek audio manager worked same time?
I have the following setup.
Main Display is a 27" 1920 Monitor attached to Thunderbolt port with USB C to HDMI (Samsung)Cable, NO Problems
Extended Display is a 55" Sharp 1920 TV attached to the HDMI port.
If I set up system to Duplicate Display there is no problem I get all app Icons on Both Displays.
In Extended Mode The following happens
If TV is Turned on HDMI or Normal TV and I boot up the NUC The ICONS are there on the TV Taskbar.
If TV is off when I boot up the NUC The ICONS are missing on the TV Taskbar(unless you are in Duplicate mode).
Same issue when NUC wakes up from sleep.
I found a quick way to get the ICON's back, Right click on taskbar and toggle - Show task view Button- or any other one and they come back.
I have tried every conceivable setting in BIOS also tested different HDMI cable but to no avail. Win 10 PRO with all the display settings correctly......
I DO NOT WANT DUPLICATE DISPLAY.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Hi,
i brought today a NUC7PJYH2 with following compontens :
- 250GB Crucial MX500 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s 3D-NAND TLC (CT250MX500SSD1)
- 8GB (2x 4096MB) HyperX Impact DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM CL14-14-14-29 Dual Kit
when i switch the nuc on i have a black screen and the blue light blinks 3 times after 1-2min the nuc turns off and boot again.
looks like an issue withe the ram.
is there any change to get run the system with this ram or i schould buy another ram ?
greetings all,
Have set up my new NUC HNK using 16gb single RAM, WD 500GB black PCIe m.2 SSD, HDMI into a 24" Samsung SB24750v monitor (with integral speakers). Audio is working as it should via HDMI (Only- no separate audio cable), but I by have somewhat annoying "60 cycle" noise present. Goes away when I mute, doesn't change with position of NUC, cables. It is reminiscent of the sound one would get when a turntable wasn't properly grounded in my old stereo system. Have installed the Intel NUC audio driver.
Any suggestions on how to eliminate?
Thanks!
